The blogger is back. (:
(Sigh). It’s about time.
Hearing my fingers clickity-click-clicking on the computer keys is a music I haven’t heard in a long time, but I song I most definitely needed to hear.
When I started writing God Loves Ugly I thought, “This is going to be so easy. I’ve probably written several books with all the blogs I’ve poured out over the years. I’ll whip it out in no time.” However, blogging every day and writing a 224 page book are about as different as Asian food is from Mexican. They’ve got some of the same ingredients and they’re both food, but the flavors don’t even compare.
I think the reason I’ve been so hesitant to start the blog back up is because I’ve been in book-writing mode for so long. In book-writing mode, things need to be perfect. You write it, edit it, read it 80 more times, edit again, throw it out because it’s not good enough, have your Studhubs edit it and give his opinion (delicately), hire an editor who goes at it with (gasp) red ink (like you’re 3rd grade teacher went at your math final!), make more changes to your baby, hire a professional proofreader, making even more changes to your little vulnerable masterpiece, then edit what’s left another 80 or so times yourself out of sheer habit and delirium. It’s all about perfect grammar, perfect sentence structure, and assuring that from start to finish, it’s something you’re going to be proud you printed and sent around the world—permanently.
No pressure or anything!
The thought of doing that all over again, on a DAILY basis??! Well, it made me just want to crawl in a hole and decide to only come out for Blue Bell Ice Cream and Cheese Enchiladas (mi favoritos).
The beauty about my old blog, is that it was anything but perfect. Heck, most of the time I didn’t even capitalize. I’d have sometimes 15 minutes to hammer out something on the tour bus before jetting off to another venue, show, country, whatever. I got into ‘editing’ mode so much with my book, that I forgot the beauty of how it all started, and the organic nature in which it spread to thousands of people all over the world. No one expected perfect—you all came back for content. You came because your hearts were being stirred and your lives were being changed. You came and read because you were finding hope and truth amidst the darkness of life.
Silly me for thinking anything has to ever be perfect. (: (Yep, just an old devil that gets to die again).
So here’s the plan and what you can consistently come to expect from this blog, and from me.
Monday: The Spirit
In a world where we constantly feed our bodies and souls, our spirits sometimes feel like the neglected child locked up in the attic. I know, beyond a shadow of a doubt, that the incredible spirit that makes up who you are, when trained and coached and fed properly, will actually INFLUENCE and CHANGE the body and soul. We slave to change our bodies. We fight to change our personalities, and our souls. But I know from experience, the fight begins in the spirit. When you give your spirit what it needs, you change. Plain and simple. Mondays will be dedicated to the spirit inside of you.
Tuesday: The Soul
As I’ve talked about in my book, the soul is your mind, will, emotions, personality, character—everything that makes up the essence of who you are as an individual. The soul is who you REALLY are, and what makes you unique. We LOVE to feed the soul. We give into anger, to self-hatred, to emotions that rock our little boats and ruin our lives. Tuesdays we’ll talk about addictions, depression, cutting, eating disorders—all sorts of goodie topics that involve our souls.
Wednesday: Whatever I Want (:
I might find a blog to highlight. I might bring in a guest writer. I might just put up a picture or a video of a new song I’m writing. I might get your opinions and get you guys to help me a bit.
Wednesday’s are for all colors of the rainbow, in no particular order.
Thursday: Relationships
I’ve had a massive response from you guys about Chapter 8 of my book on relationships. Every one of us wants to fall in love, to go to sleep every night in the arms of someone we feel safe with, to just do life with someone. Thursdays will be dedicated to becoming the kind of person that will actually ATTRACT the kind of love you want to spend your life with.
You don’t attract what you want. You attract who you are. Thursdays will be dedicated to us becoming the kind of person we actually would want to be with.
Friday: The Body
The body is your earthsuit. It houses and carries around who you REALLY are, which is your soul. We put so much emphasis on the body in Western culture, but unless we’re getting whole and healed in our spirits and souls, the body suffers. Over and over again. I’ll have guest writers to write articles on nutrition, fitness, and will give all sorts of information that I’ve learned over years and years of being in bondage to food and obsessed with my body.
There IS a healthy, free way to take care of your body.
So there it is. I’ll try to write more this week, but the kick-off to the plan is this next Monday.
Tell your friends, email your sisters. Get the word out—Christa Black’s blog is back! Invite anyone you know who, like me, needed to learn practical tools to being loved into wholeness.
Wholeness and healing is for EVERYONE—no matter what you’ve done or what’s been done to you. You were created for it.
Love you guys,
Sista Christa
